Cucumbers

The Cucumber market is steady. Domestic product is finished for season but can load imported product out of Florida. Mexico has decent supply this week, but with cooler/rainy weather it could lead to the market tightening up some next week.

Lemons

California continues to have a strong supply of lemons, skewing towards choice. Navels are peaking in larger sizes with scarce availability in sizes smaller than 88s.

Lettuce

An uptick in iceberg demand is raising that market slowly but surely. Romaine market remains low with supply exceeding demand; field crews are dealing with quality issues like fringe burn and mildew. Most other markets have steadied out with adequate supply and good quality.    

Peppers

The supply for peppers is steady with good demand. Florida and Mexico have both had cooler temperatures and some rain that has slowed production. Quality seems to be ok.

Potatoes

The potato quality remains beautiful with a plentiful supply. Freight continues to be a challenge but continues to slowly improve.

Tomatoes

Rounds and Romas out of Florida have increased this week with more demand and less product available. Colder temperatures and rainy weather at the end of last week, along with having only three shippers producing, has contributed to less overall volume. Mexico has also received some rain that has production down compared to what is typically for this time in the year. Production is increasing out of Culiacan and will continue to increase in the next few weeks. Early reports on the product are that quality is a hit or miss when having extreme heat during the growing season and then having the recent rain and colder temperatures.
